Faith-Fellowship-Fun – these are the hallmarks of a religious education program. It is my duty as Regional Director of Religious Education to see that these goals are being met. If you are a child or an adult and attend any of our religious education classes and programs, you should leave with a better understanding of your Catholic faith, you will get to know people in our faith community that you may not have met before, and you should have fun – which is something as director, I will always try to promote.
The class schedules at Queen of Angels and Saint Joseph’s will be slightly different this year–
Our K-5 Program for both parishes will meet every other week on Wednesdays, 6:00PM to 7:30PM as follows:
St. Joseph classes will begin on Wednesday, September 9th at 6:00PM with a parent meeting in the parish hall. The next class will be two weeks later on Wednesday, September 23rd, and so on, throughout the 2015 year. Class times are longer, but there will be fewer classes.
Queen of Angels classes will begin on Wednesday, September 16th at 6:00PM with a parent meeting in the St. Anne room. The next class will be two weeks later on Wednesday, September 30th, and so on throughout the 2015 year.
All those children preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, even if you are a student at Queen of Angels, will be required to attend religious education classes. The sacrament of the Eucharist is the “source and summit of our faith”, a lifetime commitment to Jesus, and the community of His Catholic Church.
The Middle School Program will begin at St. Joseph on Wednesday, September 9th at 3:00P to 4:15PM. This is a weekly class. Queen of Angels middle school program kick-off date is still to be determined. Get ready for a great year at both parishes.
The High School Program – Intentional Disciples— will begin at St. Joseph on Thursday, September 10th at 3:00PM in the RE building. Queen of Angels Intentional Disciples will begin Friday, September 11th at 3:00PM in the St. Benedict room. Classes will end at 4:30PM. Learn about your faith, meet new people, and we will also try and have some fun – this is a guarantee.
The Confirmation Program is open to anyone of high school age. Classes will be combined this year between Queen of Angels and St. Joseph parishes. We will have an important parent meeting Sunday, September 13th at 12:30PM in the St. Benedict room at Queen of Angels parish. There will be fewer overall classes than in years past, but the classes will be slightly longer.
An Adult Evening Program will begin sometime in October. It is a 24 week program – “The Bible Timeline; the story of Salvation” from Ascension Press. Look for more information in future bulletins.
Thanks to those who have volunteered already. There are some full and part-time openings still available. Is God calling you?
Registration forms can be found in each parish office.
Note: A fee of $20 per child (subject to means) is requested to cover the cost of his/her books.
